Indiana couple charged after 111 cats found in their home

DALEVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A central Indiana couple whose home was found to have more than 100 cats living inside face child neglect charges.

Fifty-one-year-old Steven M. Wood and his 47-year-old wife, Angela R. Lock-Wood were charged after authorities found 111 cats in their Daleville home.

Delaware County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Judi Calhoun says the neglect charges stem from the home's living conditions for a child in the Woods' care.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports (http://tspne.ws/2bj5LoQ ) that child was placed with child-welfare service on Aug. 9, after officials learned that the house was filled with cats.

Authorities had been called to the house the same day after a 75-year-old woman died there of what were believed to be natural causes.

The Woods face an Aug. 29 court hearing on the charges.
