District 50 appointment
The Woodland Elementary District 50 school board on Thursday, Aug. 18, appointed Renea Amen of Gurnee to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Kellie Pappas, who moved out of the district. Amen, who is a U.S. Navy veteran and an attorney who practices criminal defense and civil rights litigation, will serve the remainder of Pappas' term until 2017. She was one of five people who expressed interest in filling the vacancy. Amen is the mother of two children attending Woodland schools.
