Indiana Michigan Power's 2nd solar plant goes online

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Indiana Michigan Power says it has started generating energy at another solar power plant.

The utility said Thursday that the efforts at its Twin Branch Solar Power Plant mean it has double its solar capacity. The plant went online Thursday after testing and commissioning. The company says the plant can generate enough power for about 365 homes annually.

The plant is the second of four solar power plants the company plans to open. The first went online outside Marion late last year. Construction is ongoing at two others. One is near New Carlisle and the other is in Watervliet, Michigan. The four plants combined will be able to generate enough energy to power 2,000 homes annually.

The plant is located just outside Mishawaka in northern Indiana. Indiana Michigan Power operates under American Electric Power.
