Chicago man arrested in Arizona after marijuana found in car

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in northwestern Arizona have arrested a Chicago man who allegedly was transporting more than 60 pounds of marijuana from California to Illinois.

Kingman police say 26-year-old Tony Sam was taken into custody Friday.

He's been booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on suspicion of felony charges of transportation of marijuana for sale, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 40 on the car Sam was driving.

A drug-sniffing canine alerted officers to the odor of an illegal substance.

Police say a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of about 66 pounds of marijuana.

They say Sam admitted to his involvement in transporting the marijuana from Sacramento to Chicago.

It's unclear if Sam has a lawyer.
