$10,000 reward offered in shooting of Chicago officer's son

CHICAGO (AP) - A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the person responsible for killing a 19-year-old son of a Chicago police officer.

Arshell Dennis III was gunned down Sunday as he stood on the front porch of the family home. Dennis was a junior studying journalism at St. John's University in New York.

The reward was initiated by the Rev. Michael Pfleger. The Roman Catholic priest said Friday that he's "begging" for somebody to turn in the person who killed Dennis.

Dennis was shot in the chest and died at a hospital. A 20-year-old who was with him was shot in the arm and chest and hospitalized in serious condition.

The victim's father, Arshell "Chico" Dennis, is a long-time Chicago police officer and patrolled with Superintendent Eddie Johnson.
