Clerk pepper-sprayed during Waukegan robbery

A clerk was pepper-sprayed in an armed robbery Wednesday night in Waukegan, police said.

The robbery took place at 9 p.m. at the Shell gas station at 2720 Washington St., Waukegan police said Thursday in a news release.

A clerk told police two men, each armed with a handgun, entered the gas station and demanded cash. One man pepper-sprayed the clerk before both men fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

They're described as black men, one with a skinny build and 5 feet 8 inches tall and the other with heavy build and about 6 feet tall. Both were wearing masks.
