Northwest Suburban Bar Association Annual Golf Outing
The sun shone brightly over the Schaumburg Golf Club on August 8, 2016 at the annual NWSBA Golf Outing. Members and guests enjoyed 18 holes on the links, while our non-golfers competed in a round robin style bags tournament.
This year's Co-Chairs were Lance Ziebell and Rebecca Zeilenga.
"We had a beautiful day for the golf outing and the golfers and sponsors that attended had a great time enjoying the weather and each other's company," said Ziebell.
The title sponsors for this event were Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. (ATG) and Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE). Mike Rooney from IICLE and John O'Brien from ATG were on hand to greet people and enjoy a day of golf. Proper Title, LLC sponsored a lovely lunch on the patio, which allowed participates to socialize before the shotgun start.
"We are always happy to sponsor and support NWSBA events, and always have a great time doing so," said Rooney.
This years mixed foursome winners included Shawn McKenna, Kristin Flanagan, Michael Monday and Jeff Choate with a score of 71. Best score for women's foursome was 64 for NWSBA President Nichole Waltz, Millie Palmer, Sara Earlywine and Deb Waltz. The men's best score was 58 from Tom Winkler, John Sprenzel, Hugh Pollard and Scott Dahl.
In addition to the best score, many trophies were award for other golf games.
Chris Paulson and Sara Earlywine won for longest drive, George Bellas and Nichole Waltz had the longest putts, Brad Chill and Sara Earlywine finished closest to the pin, and closest to the line in the fairway went to Jonathan Anderson and Sara Earlywine.
Individuals that wanted to participate in the day but were not golfers enjoyed the friendly competition of the Bag and Beer tournament.
"We realize that not everyone likes to golf, so we began offering an alternative solution in order to include those people as well. It has become quite a popular option," said Becky Zeilenga, co-chairperson of the event.
President Nichole Waltz welcomed all of the attendees to the dinner that followed the sports portion of the day.
"I want to thank all of you that attended and supported this golf outing, especially all of our sponsors, because without their support, this event could not happen. It is incredibly heartwarming that our title sponsors ATG and IICLE not only support us, but participate in the event with us, and we sincerely appreciate it," said Waltz.
Waltz went on to thank Proper Title for sponsoring a delicious lunch on the beautiful patio that started out the day properly, as well as all of the other sponsors, listed below.
Farmers Insurance representative Kristen Olesen drew business cards for a drawing. Raffle winners were Tom Winkler, who won a Panera gift card, Hugh Pollard, a Red Lobster gift certificate, Marty Glink an Outback Steakhouse card and Stavri Vako who won a Fresh Choices card.
NWSBA sold tickets for two main raffles of the day. The 50/50 raffle raised 575.00 won by Jeff Choate. The grand prize, which consisted of a shiny red wagon filled with premium liquors and $500 in cash went to a very excited Mimi Cooper. Premium wine and spirits were donated by members of the NWSBA and Land Surveying Services. The $500 cash prize was donated by Mike Casey of Ringler Associates.
The evening was a great success, and another golf outing is already in the works for next year.
