Aurora Habitat For Humanity to launch 57th home Aug. 23

Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity of Aurora will break ground for its 57th volunteer-built home at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at 1557 Solfisburg Ave. in Aurora. The public is invited.

The Rev. Jeff Barrett, Habitat executive director and pastor of Genesis Community Church in Montgomery, will lead a brief ceremony.

Participants will include Habitat volunteers, Aurora residents Theo and Odette Uwamahoro, the future homeowners; and representatives of project co-sponsors, Oxford Bank and Trust of Oak Brook and Euclid Insurance Services Inc., Itasca.

The Uwamahoro family, natives of Eastern Africa, includes daughter Odila. Theo is a machine operator at a local factory. Odette, expecting the couple's second child, is a nursing student at Waubonsee Community College.

Rev. Barrett said, "Partnering with the Uwamahoro family was a no-brainer for FVHH. Theo and Odette jumped right in. They participated in our 26-hour financial training course, Financial Peace University, and have worked on the job sites to complete sweat equity hours. They can't wait for the day when they can move their growing family into a home that they can call their own."

Rev. Barrett added about Oxford Bank and Euclid Insurance, "We are very excited to once again work with the sponsors who has supported us longer and more than any other in our history.

"We are truly blessed to have this trusted relationship with Oxford Bank and Euclid Insurance," Rev. Barrett said.

Since 2004, the family-owned firms have contributed more than $200,000 and volunteer labor to Aurora Fox Valley Habitat projects. They were 34 N. Farnsworth Ave., in 2004; 415 Sherman Ave., 2005; and 1326 Pearl St., 2007.

Oxford Bank provides personal and business banking services at locations in Plainfield and Westmont and two locations each in Naperville and Addison. Euclid, based in Itasca, is a program administrator, underwriting manager and claims administrator specializing in professional liability, executive liability, public entity, fiduciary liability and labor affinity programs.

Volunteers and donations of funds, materials and services are needed to continue Fox Valley Habitat's ministry. For information, call (630) 859-3333, email info@foxvalleyhabitat.org or visit www.foxvalleyhabitat.org.
