Philhaven applications will be taken Friday in Elk Grove Village
Officials are taking applications for housing at PhilHaven, a permanent supportive housing community in Wheeling, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19.
To be eligible, applicants must be disabled and need support services in order to live independently. PhilHaven offers supportive services through its partnership with the Kenneth Young Center, a community based mental health provider.
Completed applications will be accepted by the Housing Authority of Cook County at the Kenneth Young Center, 1001 Rohlwing Road, Elk Grove Village, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until 125 applications for one-bedroom units, 60 applications for two-bedroom units, and 40 applications for three-bedroom units have been received, whichever comes first.
Applications are available for download on the housing authority website at www.thehacc.org and the Kenneth Young Center website at www.kennethyoung.org.
Under the county rental assistance program, the resident pays 30 percent of his/her income toward the rent to the owner and the housing authority subsidizes the remainder.
PhilHaven, located at 2418 Hintz Road, is expected to open for occupancy late this year.
