Fox Valley Beaux Arts prepares for 'Afternoon in Paris'

Board members of the Fox Valley Beaux Arts recently met for their traditional gift gathering party at the Bowes Creek clubhouse in Elgin. The event supports the organization's popular luncheon fundraiser with this year's theme, "Afternoon in Paris," to be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Elgin Country Club in Elgin.

Proceeds from the luncheon and fashion show, provided by Chico's and White House Black Market's locations in South Barrington, are designated for college scholarships for students pursuing the arts.

Fox Valley Beaux Arts, a nonprofit women's club, was founded 33 years ago to foster and support the arts. Its mission is to offer scholarships to Elgin area seniors majoring or minoring in the arts.

The club recently presented its 2016 college scholarships valuing a total of $14,000 to six local students.

Five of the students attended Larkin High School in Elgin as part of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. The recipients were Jeashelle Baldric, Allison Holloway, Benjamin Long, Branstarr Sihanath, and Angela Tabak from Larkin High School in Elgin and Elissa Yu from Bartlett High School.
