9/11 survivor to speak at New Lyceum lecture Sept. 6

The New Lyceum Lecture Series will begin its 2016-17 season with its first lecture, "Surviving 9/11," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

Ryan Yantis, a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel, a decorated survivor of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack on the Pentagon, will share his personal account of duty, providence, and overcoming challenges that day and during the weeks and months that followed. His multimedia presentation encourages questions and discussion related to events, policies, and history leading up to the 9/11 attacks.

Since retiring from the Army in 2006, Yantis has led two successful nonprofits, served as spokesman for the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs, and now is the principal of SilverLeaf Leadership Communication, a public relations and leadership firm in Crystal Lake.

The program is the 36th in the lecture series which began in 2008. The series is sponsored by the Batavia Public Library Foundation. This program is co-sponsored by Rotary Club of Batavia. Registration is required.

The lecture is free; however, registration is required. Register online at www.BataviaPublicLibrary.org or call the library reference desk, (630) 879-1393, ext. 200.
