Waukegan police searching for suspect in two armed robberies

Waukegan police are searching for a person who suspected of committing two armed robberies in about 15 minutes Saturday, authorities said.

Police were called to the Family Dollar store at 1313 N. Lewis Ave. at 10:50 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery, authorities said.

A clerk said a man entered the store with a handgun and demanded money. The clerk said the suspect was black was wearing a blue face mask and a dark jogging suit with a "Sox" logo on the front, authorities said.

Police were called to the Dollar General store at 2205 N. Lewis Ave. about 15 minutes later after a person matching the same description walked into the store with a handgun and demanded money, authorities said. The Dollar General store clerk told police the suspect had dark skin and "twists" in his hair, authorities said.

Neither clerk was injured during the robberies, authorities said. The amount of money taken in each robbery has not been released by police.
