Gurnee library plans fundraiser

Warren-Newport Public Library District hosts the first Dick Welton Memorial Ride motorcycle fundraiser Sunday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m. to noon from Fatman's Pizza Pub & Sports Bar, 36309 N. Skokie Highway in Gurnee. After the ride, enjoy a festive after party at Fatman's from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be live music by School of Rock Highwood, raffles and prizes. Breakfast and lunch are available from Fatman's for $3 and $6 respectively. Registration for the first bikers for books event is $20 per person and will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Fatman's. You can also register in advance online or in the library. Proceeds support educational technology for kids. Donations are tax deductible. Cars are also welcome. Rain or shine.
