The Latest: GOP US Reps. Rokita, Brooks back on ballot

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Latest on Indiana Republican caucuses to fill congressional ballot vacancies (all times local):

3:50 p.m.

Republican U.S. Reps. Todd Rokita and Susan Brooks reclaimed their spots on Indiana's November ballot after withdrawing their congressional candidacies to try to replace Mike Pence in this year's governor's race.

The Republican Party held caucuses Saturday and chose Rokita and Brooks to fill the vacancies created by their withdrawals last month.

Republicans ultimately selected Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb over Rokita and Brooks as the gubernatorial nominee against Democratic candidate John Gregg.

Rokita is running the 4th Congressional District and Brooks is running in the 5th Congressional District. Both were selected Saturday over candidates they had already defeated in primaries this year.

Brooks will face Democratic candidate Angela Demaree, an Indianapolis veterinarian, and Rokita's Democratic challenger in November is John Dale, a teacher at Western Boone High School.

Republican U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita is back on Indiana's November ballot after he withdrew his congressional candidacy last month in a bid to run for governor to replace Mike Pence.

Rokita was selected for the ballot during a Saturday caucus to fill the vacancy his withdrawal created in the 4th Congressional District. Precinct committeemen chose Rokita over three challengers, including the candidate he defeated in this year's primaries.

Rokita's Democratic challenger on the November ballot is John Dale of West Point.

Republican U.S. Rep. Susan Brooks is also attempting to get back on the November ballot during a caucus later Saturday. She also withdrew her candidacy last month to try to run for governor.

Republicans ultimately selected Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb as the gubernatorial nominee against Democratic candidate John Gregg.
