Family displaced by Wauconda house fire

A Wauconda family was displaced after house fire Friday afternoon, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the 28000 block of Wells Drive about 4:35 p.m. for a report of smoke inside the home, according to a news release from the Wauconda Fire District.

Crews found fire in the kitchen near a stove, officials said. There was minor fire damage in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the home. No one was home during the fire, and the family's dog was rescued.

The cause is under investigation.
