Rose, Noah return highlights Bulls schedule

The Chicago Bulls won't have to wait long to see some old friends.

They will host Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and the New York Knicks at the United Center in Game No. 5, on Friday, Nov. 4, on ESPN. It will be the Knicks' only visit to Chicago this season.

The NBA released its 2016-17 schedule Thursday. Here are the highlights for the Bulls:

• They'll open the season at home against Boston, Rajon Rondo's old team, on Thursday, Oct. 27, on TNT. Two days later, the Bulls will host Indiana.

• Dwyane Wade will make his only visit to Miami this season on Thursday, Nov. 10, on TNT. Wade logged 13 seasons with the Heat, winning three NBA titles.

• There will be a reunion homestand in mid-December. The Bulls will host Pau Gasol and San Antonio on Thursday, Dec. 8; then Miami on Dec. 10; followed by the only visit of the season by former coach Tom Thibodeau and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

• The Bulls will host defending champion Cleveland on Friday, Dec. 2 (ESPN), and Thursday, Mar. 30 (TNT). Golden State travels to the United Center on Thursday, March 2 (TNT).

• This year's circus road trip includes six games in 11 days, with stops in Portland, Utah, Los Angeles for the Clippers and Lakers on back-to-back nights, followed by Denver and then Philadelphia after Thanksgiving. The ice show road trip has six games in 12 days. It starts in Oklahoma City on Feb. 1, followed by Houston, Sacramento, Golden State, Phoenix and Minnesota.

• The Bulls will play at San Antonio on Christmas Day, a game televised by ABC. They have three more ABC games on the schedule: Saturday nights at Cleveland (Feb. 25) and home against the Clippers (March 4). The Bulls also have a Sunday afternoon ABC game at Boston on March 12.

• The Bulls still are a national draw, getting 12 games on ESPN and nine on TNT.

• Opening night of the NBA season on Tuesday, Oct. 25, will feature New York at Cleveland, followed by San Antonio at Golden State on TNT. In another featured game on Christmas, the Warriors will visit Cleveland in a rematch of the last two NBA Finals.
