Beauty pageants kick off Lindenfest

Young girls paraded across the stage dancing and singing, dressed in colorful gowns as they vied for the crown of Miss Lindenhurst during the first day of Lindenfest on Thursday at the Lindenhurst Village Hall Center.

The festival features carnival rides, food booths, bingo and live entertainment every day with the first night highlighted with the Little Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Lindenhurst Pageants.

Today, the festival will have live bands with Chason' Mason at 7 p.m. and Boy Band Review at 9:30 p.m., while Saturday will feature Deacon Blues at 7 p.m. and Simply Elton at 9:30 p.m.

The "All American" Lindenfest parade begins Saturday activities starting at 10:30 a.m. at Sand Lake Road and Country Place. The festival will feature a kids hula hoop contest, balloon sculpting, face painting and the Mayor's Auction.

Sunday's events conclude with the Battle of the Bands, a bags tournament, face painting and bingo.

The festival is free, and the hours are: tonight, 6 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, noon to midnight; and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.
