Denny Hamlin's Daytona 500 smaller replica trophy has typo

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Denny Hamlin might want to keep his own engraver on standby.

The Daytona 500 winner tweeted a picture Tuesday after he received a replica version of the Harley J. Earl Trophy, which goes to drivers who win "The Great American Race." The silver plate read 2015 instead of 2016.

Daytona officials said Thursday that Hamlin had tweeted a picture of a smaller replica trophy that teams order from an outside manufacturer. They say the actual Harley J. Earl Trophy that Hamlin received was correctly engraved.

"It just hasn't been the best week as far as mis-prints go," Hamlin said in the tweet Tuesday, referring to a headline he saw Monday after his victory at Watkins Glen said the winner was "Hamilton."

The win was Hamlin's first on a road course. The Sprint Cup series is off until the race on Aug. 20 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
