Blackhawks Blood Drives Scheduled for August 20 In Rosemont and Downers Grove

LifeSource and the Chicago Blackhawks are once again joining forces with One Goal in mind: Supporting the lives of local patients with the selfless act of donating blood.

Although summer is winding down, the need for quality blood products is always in demand. Due to busy summer schedules, blood donations are traditionally lowest in August. But the need for blood actually increases during these months.

LifeSource will host a pair of Chicago Blackhawks Blood Drives on Saturday,

August 20, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at LifeSource headquarters, 5505 Pearl Street in Rosemont; and at the DoubleTree Hotel, 2111 Butterfield Rd., in Downers Grove.

Participating donors will be entered to win one of more than 130 pairs of tickets to the 2016 Blackhawks Training Camp Festival. In addition, donors who pre-register will receive a limited edition 'Donor-rita-ville' T-shirt.

"Blood donations are needed year-round," says LifeSource spokesperson Thelma Sardin. "As we move into late summer and early fall, donations are not only needed to help maintain our current inventories but also to help prepare for the coming summer months. While people of all blood types are encouraged to donate, there is an increased need for those with A-, B- and O- blood to donate. These blood types are always in demand for area patients."

To pre-register for the August 20 Blackhawks Blood Drives, call (877) 543-3768 or visit lifesource.org and enter Group Code 271B (Rosemont) or 985C (Downers Grove).

In preparation for their donation, donors are asked to eat well, stay hydrated and arrive with proper identification. LifeSource hosts' blood drives daily and also operates community donor centers across the greater Chicago area.
