Quincy group distributes yard signs backing law enforcement

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A community group in the Mississippi River city of Quincy is distributing signs touting its support of local law enforcement.

Lee Lindsay of The Friends of Law Enforcement says the group distributed 250 signs to a dozen churches Sunday to give community members the chance to make Quincy police officers, Adams County sheriff's deputies and Illinois state troopers "feel the love."

The Quincy Herald Whig reports (http://bit.ly/2aWWktr) signs read, "We support our local law enforcement."

Lindsay says her group was inspired by a similar sign at a Quincy home, adding it was believed other residents might want signs of their own. She says more signs will be distributed next Sunday.

Lindsey says law enforcement "has really taken a hit," and Quincy residents know lives and the safety of the community depend on the men and women who serve and protect.
