Portillo's launches ordering app

CHICAGO - Iconic Chicago restaurant Portillo's has launched its official app.

Available on Android, iPhone, and iPad devices, the Portillo's app allows customers the ability to order food for pickup at any of the company's 44 locations.

In celebration of the launch, Portillo's is offering customers $5 off a mobile app order of $15 or more, when they use the promo code 'HOTDOG' at checkout. Guests who register with an account on the app from now through August 31 can enter in a sweepstakes in which five lucky app users will win Portillo's meals for a year. To build the company's first app, Portillo's partnered with mobile developer Olo to digitally recreate Portillo's proprietary ordering code.

"Our original ordering system that we still use today was created by founder Dick Portillo. In the restaurant our teams write customer orders as short abbreviations on each Portillo's bag, which are identifiable to our whole team," says Keith Kinsey, Portillo's CEO. "It was important to us to maintain this piece of our brand identity as we expanded our digital offerings. The Olo team was able to work with us to create a unique product that is unlike any other restaurant app."

Once downloaded, the app allows users to select a Portillo's location, choose their food, and place their order for in-store or drive-through pickup, allowing them to skip the line.

"As a Chicago native, I'm especially proud to be part of the team that brought the Portillo's digital ordering program to life," said Marty Hahnfeld, Olo's Chief Commercial Officer. "Our motto at Olo is, "Skip the LineĀ®" and we're excited to bring the convenience of mobile ordering to Portillo's restaurants."

Guests can download the app online via iTunes or Android. For more information, or to find a Portillo's near you, visit www.portillos.com or follow Portillo's on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
