Carbon monoxide poisoning blamed for two deaths

An elderly couple has died of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning in their Glendale Heights home, authorities said Friday.

Glendale Heights police identified the victims as 72-year-old James and 70-year-old Kathryn McMahon. Police and paramedics found the couple dead when they responded about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to the home on the 0-100 block of Blue Ridge.

Authorities are continuing to investigate. Investigators said they are confident there is no risk to the safety of the community.
