Champion Cavs re-sign veteran James Jones

CLEVELAND (AP) - The Cleveland Cavaliers have re-signed veteran swingman James Jones for a third season.

While Jones hasn't made a huge contribution on the floor, the Cavaliers value his leadership. Jones has been teammates with LeBron James for the past six seasons, winning two titles with Miami and a third in Cleveland.

Cavs general manager David Griffin said Jones' "leadership and professionalism over the last two years have translated with our team in many different ways that have helped us reach our goals."

Regarded as one of the league's nicest people, the 6-foot-8 Jones has played 13 NBA seasons, averaging 5.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 661 regular-season games.

Nicknamed "Champ," Jones appeared in 48 games and averaged 3.7 points in 9.6 minutes last season. He played in 12 postseason games during Cleveland's title run.

He has also played for Portland, Phoenix and Indiana.
