Motorcyclist gets 3-year prison sentence for fatal crash

CHICAGO (AP) - A man has received a three-year prison sentence for striking a German woman who was crossing Lake Shore Drive in Chicago with his motorcycle.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/2amfcAX) Charles Lyons of Evergreen Park pleaded guilty Tuesday to reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving resulting in bodily harm. He was sentenced by Judge Maura Slattery Boyle.

Police say that Oct, 19, 2015, Lyons, then 20, was speeding on his motorcycle between stopped cars when he struck a man and a woman who were in a crosswalk. The woman, 25-year-old Katrin Kutscheidt, died. A man in his 40s was hospitalized in serious condition with internal injuries.

Boyle will receive credit for 288 days served in the Cook County Jail, and will have to serve one year of supervised release.
