Chamberlain College receives Center of Excellence designation

DOWNERS GROVE - Chamberlain College of Nursing has been designated as a Center of Excellence for 2016-2020 by the National League for Nursing, in recognition of sustained efforts in "Creating Environments That Promote the Pedagogical Expertise of Faculty."
The NLN established the Centers of Excellence program as a way to recognize schools that have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and have invested resources over a sustained period of time to distinguish themselves in a specific area related to nursing education.
Achieving recognition in the category of "Creating Environments That Promote the Pedagogical Expertise of Faculty" exemplifies Chamberlain's investment in faculty development and its commitment to excellence in teaching tomorrow's nurses. Following are the criteria used to define excellence in this category:
"We are honored to receive this recognition of the significant commitment Chamberlain has to excellence in education and lifelong learning. We are dedicated to continuous improvement in providing faculty with the development and support needed to achieve excellence, and we are fervently committed to helping our faculty deliver on our vision of preparing extraordinary nursing professionals," said Susan Groenwald, Ph.D., RN, ANEF, FAAN, national president for Chamberlain College of Nursing. "This is an ongoing journey, and we appreciate being recognized for the work we have done to date."
For a school or health care organization to receive designation as an NLN Center of Excellence in Nursing Education, it must engage in a voluntary process that involves preparation of extensive supporting material demonstrating commitment to teaching excellence. The process also includes a peer review.
"The NLN is proud to recognize those schools and organizations that are doing the outstanding work that sets them apart from others," said Anne Bavier, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, president for the National League for Nursing.
"By publicly acknowledging these best practices," added Beverly Malone, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, CEO for the National League for Nursing, "we promote the preparation of a diverse, culturally competent nursing workforce to deliver safe, effective patient care in our complex, dynamic health care environment."
This honor will be presented to Chamberlain College of Nursing at the 2016 NLN Education Summit in Orlando, Florida, during the Awards Convocation on Friday, September 23. Chamberlain is one of 15 schools being honored this year adding to the total of 40 schools that have been acknowledged with this distinguished recognition.
