Suburban Chicago man charged with murder in wife's death

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man has been charged with shooting and killing his wife as she walked into their home carrying their 1-year-old child.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that 42-year-old Jose Arturo Salgado-Roque has been charged with first-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in court later Tuesday.

The sheriff's department alleges that Salgado-Roque fatally shot 38-year-old Divina Salgado on Sunday afternoon at their Arlington Heights residence. Investigators identified Salgado-Roque as the suspect and took him into custody. The couple's 1-year-old child and two other children were placed in the custody of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
