Authorities: Arrest made in 2015 Burlington shooting death
BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Department of Public Safety has announced an arrest in a shooting death that occurred nearly 18 months ago in Burlington.
Authorities say 23-year-old Earl Riley Booth-Harris was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the Feb. 16, 2015 death of 24-year-old Deonte Raynell Carter.
Police say Carter suffered three gunshot wounds during a fight at a Burlington intersection.
The department says Booth-Harris is being held in Illinois and it's not known when he might be extradited to Iowa. Online Illinois prison records show Booth-Harris is serving a 3 ˆ½-year sentence for aggravated battery of a peace officer.
It was unclear whether Booth-Harris yet had an attorney Friday in the Iowa case. He could not be reached for comment.
