St. Charles man accused of stalking
A 26-year-old St. Charles man has been charged with stalking his ex-girlfriend.
Michael A. Way, of the 3N200 block of Bernice Street, was arrested Thursday night by Kane County sheriff's deputies on the felony charge, Lt. Pat Gengler said.
Way is accused of texting at least two messages to the woman between July 22 and Monday, saying he knew where she was and causing her to fear for her safety, police said.
The Geneva woman is in her mid-20s and dated Way for several years, Gengler said.
"We are still investigating," said Gengler, adding the woman was not physically injured.
Gengler could not immediately specify what else the messages sent by Way may have contained.
Bail was set Friday at $20,000 for Way. He also must wear a GPS device if he posts bond, according to Kane County court records.
If convicted, he faces a punishment ranging from probation to up to three years in prison. It does not appear he has had previous arrests in Kane County, records show.
Way is next due in court Aug. 18.
