Applications open for Schaumburg's Miss Septemberfest

Applications are being sought in the competition for Miss Septemberfest, who will represent the village of Schaumburg during its annual Septemberfest celebration over Labor Day weekend.

Applications are due Friday, Aug. 5 and can be downloaded at septemberfest.org.

Contestants must be 16 to 19 years old, live in Schaumburg, be U.S. citizens, never have been married, be knowledgeable about Schaumburg and available to serve as Miss Septemberfest or a member of her court from Sept. 2 through Sept. 5.

Candidate interviews will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14. Five finalists will be announced that day.

Finalists are chosen based on community involvement, activities, poise and character.

The Rotary Club of Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates will host the annual Miss Septemberfest Luncheon at noon Friday, Sept. 2 at Chandler's Chophouse, 401 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.

The winner will be announced during the lunch.
