Betalish Gam KPS Chicago Summer Picnic draws a large turnout

Chicago IL: Betalish Gam KPS Chicago is celebrated 4th Picnic on Sunday, July 24, 2016 between at Busse Woods, Forest Preserve Grove #11, Elk Grove Village, IL. There were many incorrect predictions as to the number of members who come the event due to another major event and weeding. On a very busy weekend, more than 2000 members, friends, and well-wishers participating in this near day-long event. Betalish Gam KPS Chicago picnic is always one of the largest Picnic event in Chicagoland area.

The picnic, aimed to garner the spirit of giving and spreading joy, was a tremendous success with close to 2000 people in attendance, all enjoying the picnic, the variety of delectable food and Watermelons, Corn, and the company of family and friends. It was a great joy to see the children having a good time at the woods playing with their friends and family as well as participating in the community enrichment activities.

The event lasted from 11 AM to 7 PM. The organizers of the picnic had many ideas for how to keep the group busy and entertained. However, one of the daunting tasks of the event was how to keep everyone together and make picnic more enjoyable. 2 special buses were arranged for seniors and their family.

The hot summer sun did not dampen the spirits of any one however. All of the activities and food were sponsored by members of the organization, allowing the picnic to be very nominal charge to attendees.

Besides a full scale social interaction and games, the highlight of the picnic was enchanting and mouthwatering food. Appetizers and snacks items were excellent. Participants enjoyed Hot Gota, Chatni, Khichu.

Children of all ages had plenty to do. For the youngest, there was inflatable slides rented locally. Volleyball, the Indian game of Kho, water balloon toss, lemon race, Musical Chairs, Cricket matches, and Garba were arranged for some of the adults.

Indian food was served to all members included khichadi chhas, Thepla, Saak, Ladoo etc. Management served 10,000 cold water bottles on that very hot day.

This year a Jyoti Ruth of Shree Umiya Mataji was brought in for few hours for the darshan. Shree Umiya Mataji is a Kuldevi of all Kadva Patidars. It was a heart touching religious moments while Aarti & Bhajans.

A raffle was organized to put a competitive edge to the day giving away laptops, tablets and Flat TVs.

Over 10,000 Water bottles were donated by Jitubhai (Naranpura), Hasmukhbhai ( Naranpura) & Piyushbhai, Truck load Watermelon and Corn donated by Vasudev Patel (Mokhasan) and Jasubhai Patel (Saldi), Pizza was served to Over 750 youngsters were donated by Jignesh Patel (Akhaj), Vijay Patel (Rajpur), Bhargav Patel (Vadu).

There we lots of sponsors for this however 2 family did major role. Family 1, Lalbhai & Hiraben (Suraj), Jiten & Parul with Maya, and Jiya, Rena, Piyush & Kiran and Family 2, Ghanshyambhai & Joshodaben (Mokhasan), Dhiren & Rita with Brina, Dhara and Akshar and Deepak & Dharmishta with Dhruv and Kali

The event was a huge success and the Betalish Gham is already discussing plans for next year's picnic. The picnic was enjoyed by all the guests due to dedication and hard work by members, volunteers and officers of the Samaj.

The next Betalish Samaj of Chicago event will be our annual Garba. This event was a huge success last year with over 3000 people in attendance. A live band will be present to give the audience the best experience of this favorite Gujarati event.

42 Gam Kadva Patidar Samaj was established in 2012 with the efforts of some community leaders to preserve, protect and personify eastern values, to make our children participate in celebrating our festivals, and to provide platform to all 42 Gam Patidars to come together to meet, greet, entertain and celebrate our heritage.
