Sedgebrook Shows Gratitude for Local Police Department

"They are so deserving of our gratitude," said Ryan Springer, community resources manager of Sedgebrook. "There's been a lot of sadness and tension in this country, and there has been a lot of hostility directed at police officers. At Sedgebrook, the residents and staff really value our wonderful relationship with the Lincolnshire Police Department. We wanted to show them our appreciation and thank them for serving and protecting us, and let them know that we value them and the hard and stressful work they do."

On July 25th, 12 residents from the senior living community took fresh baked cookies to the LPD, to thank them for their service. "The officers on duty were very thankful and extremely generous with their time," said Springer.

The guests from Sedgebrook spent more than an hour touring the police station including the interrogation room, holding cells and the inside of some police cruisers. "We learned a lot about the behind-the-scenes work and we were very grateful for their time," said Springer.

In turn, Sedgebrook regularly hosts visitors from the LPD for their Coffee with a Cop program during which police officers discuss a variety of topics relating to security and safety, with residents. The August topic will be Self Defense.

"Our visit to the Lincolnshire Police Department was a great way for the Sedgebrook community and the LPD to continue our great relationship," said Springer.
