Cleveland Browns' Armonty Bryant pleads guilty to drug count

CLEVELAND (AP) - Cleveland Browns player Armonty Bryant has pleaded guilty to attempted drug possession.

Bryant was sentenced to 68 days of probation in a Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH'-guh) County court and fined $1,000. A three-month jail sentence was suspended.

He and former teammate De'Ante Saunders were arrested Christmas morning after being stopped for speeding in suburban Cleveland. Police found marijuana, two prescription pills and a loaded handgun in Saunders' car.

Defense attorney Kevin Spellacy says Bryant had a prescription for one medication, later got a prescription for the other and has otherwise been drug-free.

Bryant was suspended for two games last season and was suspended without pay for this season's first four games for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.

The team cut Saunders after his arrest. His case is pending.
