Crafty Christmas cards beat out the summer heat

On Tuesday, July 26, 21 patrons stayed nice and cool by getting out of the summer heat to create a variety of Christmas cards at the Bartlett Library.

The five cards that patrons made consisted of a 3D snowflake surrounded by snowflake stamps; a cutout wreath put over green and red stripes; pine tree stamps behind an oval paper frame with the words "Silent Night" on the front; a cutout ornament that had the words "Peace and Joy" under it; and then a card that looked like Santa's coat with "Ho! Ho! Ho!" on it.

Program Presenter Glenda Travelstead graciously donated her time and all the crafting supplies for the Bartlett Library program "Christmas in July."

Travelstead has been teaching the art of papercrafting for over 15 years in Bartlett, and she is a demonstrator for Stampin' Up.

Besides Travelstead, there were three more helpers from Stampin' Up available to assist patrons in creating the crafty cards.

To wrap up the program, patrons were encouraged to sign up for Travelstead's email list as she holds classes monthly. To learn more, go to standupstamper.com.
