A special presentation of the classic "Big Trouble in Little China" is the August film selection for the Critics Classic Series at the Elk Grove Theatre.

The movie will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the Elk Grove Theatre, 1050 Arlington Heights Road, in Elk Grove Village.

The popular monthly film series will now be presented on the second Wednesday of each month.

Admission is $6 per person. Tickets are available in advance at the Elk Grove Theatre Box Office or online at classiccinemas.com.

The second Wednesday of the month series is co-sponsored by the Chicago Film Critics Association. Critic David Fowlie will host the film and lead the Q&A, following the film presentation.

"Big Trouble in Little China" is a fantasy about hard-boiled truck driver Jack Burton, played by Kurt Russell, who gets caught in a bizarre conflict within, and underneath, San Francisco's Chinatown.

An ancient Chinese prince and Chinatown crime lord has kidnapped a beautiful green-eyed woman, who is the fiancee to Jack's best friend. Jack must help his friend rescue the girl before the evil Lo Pan uses her to break the ancient curse that keeps him a fleshless and immortal spirit. (117 minutes/R).
