Cheaper electricity rate in Gurnee

Gurnee officials have announced residents will pay less for electricity through July 2017. The village renegotiated with FirstEnergy Solutions to lower the electrical supply rate for the final year of a municipal aggregation contract. The price now is 6.27 cents per kilowatt hour instead of 6.69 cents through July 2017. Officials said the amended rate is locked for the final 13 months of the contract, as opposed to ComEd pricing that fluctuates monthly.
