Bartlett patrons celebrate math at program

On Tuesday, July 19, 13 youth patrons at the Bartlett Library celebrated math with a variety of activities and games.

The program started out with the children gathered around the pull-down monitor, which had a short video based on the book "Math Curse" by Jon Scieszka playing on it.

Following the video, the children were instructed on the various activities set up in the meeting room. Children could play a game of horseshoes, ring toss, a miniature version of basketball, bags, build structures with Magna-Tiles, create a felt flag, play dominos and play with Tangrams.

They were paired up and then they went to any activity they wanted to with their partner. They were given paper to keep scores among the various games or to work out any math problems they met at the locations.

An upcoming Youth & Teen Services program is "Chess Club" on Monday, July 25 at 4 p.m. Grades 2-12. Everyone is welcome to play chess with us! Beginners will receive instructions on how to play.
