Illinois announces proposed waterfowl season, bag limits

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is announcing its proposed waterfowl season and bag limits for Canada geese, ducks and other migratory birds.

The IDNR said Monday that the 2016-2017 season in Illinois for regular duck, Canada goose and snow goose seasons will start October 15 in the north zone, October 22 in the central zone, November 11 in the south- central zone and November 24 in the south zone. The white-fronted goose seasons will open between October 17 and November 24.

Both the early Canada goose season and the statewide teal hunting seasons begin in September.

Daily bag limits vary depending on the species of bird.
