Lake County Fair prepares for opening

Teenagers from the Glenview Clovers 4-H Club led Holstein cows into their stalls, while Phil Tonyan of Spring Grove used a blower to clean dirt off his crossbred cow named Sugar Ray as the Lake County Fair came alive in preparation for Wednesday's opening.

The annual fair at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake runs through Sunday, July 31, with amusement rides, food, entertainment and lots of farm animals.

Wednesday's events include goat, sheep and dairy cow judging, entertainment by the Whiskey Bends Band and Rosehill Revival band, the Miss Lake County Fair queen pageant, and concludes with stadium motocross.

Daily attractions feature the Banana Derby, the Ham Bone Express pig races, Ag Adventure!, dog demonstrations, and livestock judging and demonstrations.
