3 things to watch for on Democratic National Convention's opening night

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee announced Sunday she'd resign at the end of the convention, which begins today. The news maybe adds some drama to a week that will end with Hillary Clinton's acceptance of the nomination for president. Here's what to watch for on the main stage tonight:

• Bernie Sanders' speaking spot is on the first night of the convention, starting a week that's supposed to be about party unity with Clinton's primary rival turned endorser. “We are going to do everything we can to protect working families in this country,” Sanders said on NBC Sunday. “What a campaign is about is not about Hillary Clinton; it's not about Donald Trump.”

• But it remains to be seen how much of the convention will end up being about Clinton's Republican opponent. How prominently will Democrats attack him via their prime-time speeches? Or will they focus on their message and try not to engage Trump much? And will he seek to make news during Democrats' week?

• Michelle Obama is the other key speaker tonight, showing voters early in the convention that the incumbent president is behind Clinton. Will she address the similarities between her 2008 convention address and Melania Trump's speech last week?
