Boomers clobbered by Otters in finale

The Schaumburg Boomers fell behind early and couldn't stop the bleeding as they lost the rubber match to the Evansville Otters 14-3 Sunday afternoon.

Evansville scored all 14 runs in the first six innings before Schaumburg broke up the shut out in the seventh. Paul Kronenfeld continued his hot start to the second half, driving in Jordan Dean with an RBI-double to right. Mark Nelson followed with an RBI-single and Kenny Towns completed the Schaumburg scoring on an error by the Otters' second baseman.

Evan Boyd threw a scoreless frame in the seventh in his first appearance since coming back from injury. Schaumburg has a day off Monday before they head back on the road for a three-game series against the Gateway Grizzlies.
