Carpentersville street transformed into giant slip 'n slide
Maple Avenue in Carpentersville was transformed into a giant slip 'n slide Saturday, giving residents a chance to experience what organizers called one of the steepest hills on this year's Slide the City schedule.
Thousands of tickets were sold for rides down the 1,000-foot vinyl water slide, which stretched from Rosewood Drive to Tamarac Drive, said Slide the City owner Spencer Hunn.
Admittance was free for an accompanying festival with live music, food vendors, beverages and merchandise for sale.
