Police: Naperville protester's tent fire likely arson

The tent of a self-proclaimed Naperville "protester" that burned down Monday is believed to have been the target of arson, authorities said yesterday. The tent belonging to Scott Huber caught fire about 1:55 p.m. Monday, after witnesses saw and surveillance video captured a "person of interest" nearby at the Mobil gas station at 1420 E. St. Charles man charged in Elgin armed robbery

A St. Charles man has been charged with the armed robbery of a gas station in Elgin earlier this month, police said. Ryan J. Witkus, 18, of the 200 block of N. Tyler Road, was charged with attempted armed robbery with a firearm, police said. Full story.

North Aurora teen pleads guilty in death of Marmion classmate

A North Aurora teen pleaded guilty yesterday to reckless driving in the death of a fellow Marmion Academy senior who fell off a vehicle's running board at the school in May and suffered a fatal head injury, Kane County officials said. Full story.

Aurora police seeking information on two shootings

Aurora police are seeking help from the public after two separate shootings Wednesday that did not strike any of the intended victims. Nobody was injured by gunfire in either shooting. Police say both shootings may be gang-related, but they don't believe the shootings are connected. Full story.
