Images: It was a hot day around the suburbs

People drank lots of water and tried to stay cool as an excessive heat watch took in effect for the suburbs Thursday afternoon.

The heat will continue through Friday evening, according to accuweather.com.

Temperatures were expected to be in the mid-90s today and Friday, with heat index values ranging from 105 degrees to 115 degrees.

It was a rough day for people who had to work in the hot sun, while others took to local pools to keep cool.
