Mount Propect throws Downtown Block Party July 22-23

The Village of Mount Prospect and the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce are throwing the 17th annual Mount Prospect Downtown Block Party Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23.

Each year, the village and the chamber celebrate summer with a hometown party filled with live musical performances, a variety of food and beverage options, and family activities.

Two full days of free entertainment have been lined up. Festivities run from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. There are a variety of children's activities from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday in The Kids' Zone, including a climbing wall, slide, mini Ferris wheel and bounce houses. From 2 to 6 p.m., there will be pony rides and face-painting.

Participating food and beverage vendors include Blackfinn Ameripub, Capannari Ice Cream, Completely Nuts, Fellini Restaurant & Pizzeria, Mia's Cantina, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Olympus Gyros, Photo's Hotdogs, the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce and the Mount Prospect Junior Women's Club.

The Downtown Block Party is held in the heart of downtown at the corner of Emerson Street and Busse Avenue, one block north of the downtown Metra station. Parking is free in Metra East Commuter Lot at Northwest Highway and Route 83, the village hall parking deck at 50 S. Emerson St., and the Maple Street parking lot at Prospect Avenue and Maple Street.
