Court denies white supremacist Matthew Hale appeal

DENVER (AP) - Another appeal by a white supremacist convicted in 2004 for soliciting the murder of a federal judge in Chicago has been rejected.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver said in an opinion issued Tuesday that Matthew Hale "produced no new evidence" indicating his innocence.

Hale is serving a 40-year sentence in Colorado for asking an informant to kill Judge Joan Humphrey Lefkow. She'd ruled against him in a trademark case.

Chicago's 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals previously upheld the former East Peoria resident's convictions. He employed different legal arguments in the 2014 appeal asking the Denver-based court to free him.

Lefkow's husband and mother were killed in her Chicago home a year after Hale's conviction. But the killer had no connection to Hale's case.
