Mount Prospect Train Station Slated for Repairs

Downtown Mount Prospect's Metra Station, located on Northwest Highway between Emerson Street and Elmhurst Road, is scheduled for a face lift starting this summer.

Work on the station, led and funded by Metra, will begin on July 19. Interior as well as exterior work is expected to be performed.

The exterior work will include:

• All new windows and doors

• Repairing or replacing of all the stone/ brick around the building

• New dumpster enclosure

• New signage

• Exterior painting

• Roof work (possible)

The interior work will include patching and painting.

No work will be performed during peak commuting hours. Construction crews are expected to work between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on the track side of the station.

Work will be split into 5 phases, and access to the station will be limited to 1 of 3 entrances. The building will remain open for the duration of the project, which is expected to continue through Spring 2017.

The handicap parking just west of the station will serve as the construction staging area, so that area will be closed. However, station drop off and parking to east of the station will remain open. The platform is not expected to be impacted during peak hours at any time.
