Rapids beat SKC 1-0 to make it 14 games unbeaten

COMMERCE CITY, Colorado (AP) - Colorado extended its franchise-record unbeaten streak to 14 games with a 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City in Major League Soccer on Friday, with substitute Marlon Hairston scoring the sole goal and goalkeeper Tim Howard keeping another clean sheet.

The Rapids remained three points behind Western Conference leader Dallas, which beat Chicago.

Hairston, who came on in the 62nd minute, deflected a Sporting pass, then took a feed from Dillon Powers and curled a shot from just outside the box into the top-right corner.

Former Everton goalkeeper Howard kept his second clean sheet in three games after moving back to the U.S.

Dallas' Maximiliano Urriti scored and Fabian Castillo had two assists as the Texan club beat Chicago 3-1.

Urriti blasted a header into the top-right corner in the 23rd minute after Castillo beat a pair of defenders and sent in a cross. In the 41st, Mauro Diaz fired a shot from well outside the box, past the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper, off the post and into the net.

Arturo Alvarez put Chicago on the board in the first minute of stoppage time but, about a minute later, Castillo hit Mauro Rosales for the clinching goal.

New England's Bobby Shuttleworth made two critical saves to help the Revolution secure a 0-0 draw at Real Salt Lake.

Shuttleworth deflected a point-blank, one-timer by Kyle Beckerman in the 14th minute, and used his leg to poke away Yura Movsisyan's breakaway shot in the 71st.

Kei Kamara put the ball in the net for New England but it was ruled out as he had tripped an opponent in the lead-up.

Orlando City's Cyle Larin scored the equalizing goal on a header in the 50th minute as the Florida club drew 2-2 at Montreal.

San Jose won 2-1 against Toronto despite playing with nine men for most of the second half following two dismissals, ending a seven-game winless sequence.

D.C. United's Fabian Espindola scored in the 89th minute to secure a 1-1 draw at Columbus.
