Boomers allow 5 HRs, fall to River City

O'FALLON, Mo. - The Schaumburg Boomers allowed 5 homers in an 8-4 road loss to the River City Rascals to open the second half of the season.

Schaumburg opened a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Paul Kronenfeld added to his team-leading RBI total with a sacrifice fly and Mark Nelson added an RBI-single in the frame.

River City tied the game with solo homers in the second and fourth against starter Seth Webster and plated a pair of runs in the fifth to open a momentary 4-2 lead. Kenny Towns nailed his second homer of the season in the top of the sixth to tie the game, but the Rascals hit three homers in the bottom of the inning to account for the final.

Webster worked 5⅓ innings and suffered the loss. Schaumburg finished with 11 hits in the game. Kronenfeld, who played the entire Frontier League All-Star Game on Wednesday, finished with three while Jordan Dean and Nelson each logged a pair.
