Farkle from 'Girl Meets World' to greet fans in Naperville

One of the stars of the Disney Channel show "Girl Meets World" will meet Naperville's slice of the globe on Sept. 4.

Corey Fogelmanis, who plays the character Farkle, is scheduled to host a meet-and-greet with fans from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Family Fun Land of the Last Fling Labor Day festival.

Fogelmanis' character is a smart, quirky high schooler who stays loyal to his friends Riley, Maya and Lucas in "Girl Meets World," which debuted in June 2014 as a sequel to the 1990s ABC show "Boy Meets World." The show focuses on Riley Matthews, who is the daughter of "Boy Meets World" stars Corey and Topanga, now that they're adults.

Fans who want to meet Fogelmanis will need a free wristband, which can be picked up while supplies last beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of his appearance. Wristbands will be distributed at the Aurora Avenue entrance to Family Fun Land, in Naper Settlement at 523 S. Webster St.

The family area will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, and Sunday, Sept. 4, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 5. Activities include pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a family entertainment stage, crafts, business booths and food and drinks for sale.

Last Fling organizers from the Naperville Jaycees traditionally bring one youth entertainment star to meet with fans each year during the event, which also includes a carnival, concerts, a Labor Day parade, a business expo and a variety of unusual contests and races. This year, the 51st annual fest runs Friday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 5.
