Wheeling trustees to consider adult day service facility

Wheeling village trustees on Monday will consider allowing an adult day service at 43 W. Dundee Road that would serve 10 to 15 adults daily.

Medtec Healthcare owns the building, plus an adjacent address where it runs Super Senior Center Adult Day Service.

Medtec wants the new facility to provide "social and health related" services for additional elderly patients from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to village documents.

The building is vacant, and is zoned for commercial and office use, so trustees will have to grant a special use permit to Medtec.

Funding for Medtec's business comes from the state of Illinois and Medicaid, according to village documents.

New grass, shrubs and bushes is also part of Medtec's proposal.

The proposal was approved by Wheeling's Plan Commission June 23 by a 4-1 vote.
